The Otsego Club and Resort, located just north of Gaylord, Michigan, has opened a terrain park for snowboarding featuring an 18-foot halfpipe, rails, boxes and jumps.

Planet Snow Design built the terrain park for Otsego Club. Planet's owner, Ryan Neptune, also built the halfpipe for the Salt Lake City Olympics, and will be doing the same for the 2010 games in Vancouver.

"His goal is to build the best terrain park this side of the Mississippi," said Kip Driver, Otsego Club race director.

Otsego Club is a private, four-season club, but the ski slopes and terrain park are open to the public Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4-9 p.m.

Lessons are available for skiing and snowboarding. Casey Buckleitner, snowboard instructor, participated on the snowboard team at Western Michigan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation management. World-class freestyle skier Jon Cyrulik trains Otsego Club skiers.
