Although this is more eastern than western Michigan, celebrating connections that allow for longer adventures is something GOTC news always wants to do. These areas are northwest of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and this connection will add a spur to the Washtenaw County Border-to-Border trail that is in development. In a straight line, about a mile of land will be traversed by the trail.
In July, Scio Township voted to devote up to $11,000 for designing and engineering of a walking path to connect VanCurler Preserve and the Dexter-Huron Metropark.
Van Curler Preserve includes 90 acres with forests, wetlands, prairies and river bluffs. The trail connection will help alleviate cramped parking at Van Curler by providing an alternate access from the larger parking area in Dexter-Huron Metropark.
The new trail will also create a safer crossing of the Huron River.
